There is no shortage of things to do on Canada Day to celebrate the country’s 149th birthday.
Many communities will cap off Friday with a fireworks display.
In Wasaga Beach, festivities are being held at Beach Area One.
They include a pancake breakfast hosted by the Wasaga Beach Lions Club, inflatables and face painting, live entertainment and the Grand Opening of the Main Street Market is at 11:45 AM.
There is also a fireworks display at dusk. Musical entertainment includes Sarah Smith at 12:40 PM and the Desotos at 3 PM.
And a kiddie ride midway is to be set up at the main beach for this weekend, complete with games and fair confections.
The town is also offering free parking in municipal lots at Beach Areas One and Two for today from 9 AM to 11 PM.
In Collingwood, there is a pancake breakfast from 8 AM to 11 AM in front of town hall.
You can continue eating your way through the celebrations at the Simcoe Street Farm To Table Street Feast and Art Celebration from 11 AM to 9 PM on Simcoe Street between Ste. Marie and St. Paul Streets. There is a fee for this.
The annual Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony is at the Federal Building at noon.
Harbourfront fireworks are set for 10 PM.
At the Village at Blue Mountain, there are family activities and fireworks over the mountain.
In Stayner, there is a parade at 11:30 AM with opening ceremonies at Station Park at 12:45 PM followed by live entertainment and a children’s area.
In Creemore, the kid’s bike parade is set for 12:45 PM with activities all afternoon at the Legion. Fireworks take place at dusk.
