OPP Officer Charged

Orillia | by Ken Hashizume
The provincial police force says the accused is a 6-year veteran and will remain on active duty.

An OPP constable assigned to the Central Region detachment is facing charges.

The provincial police force says the incident happened on Thursday while the officer was off duty.

They say the Central Region Crime Unit are investigating the case and would only say that the officer is a member of the OPP the past six years and will remain on active duty.

They went on to say due to the domestic nature of the investigation, they will not be releasing any specifics of the case or releasing the officer's name in order to protect the identity of the victim and prevent revictimization.
