OPP continues to lay charges in overdose-related deaths

Orillia | by Ian MacLennan
Police say if you're dealing opioids, you're contributing to the crisis.

OPP say there have been eight overdose-related death investigations province-wide this year where manslaughter and/or criminal negligence causing death charges have been laid, and a total of 13 such occurrences since 2016.

That includes a manslaughter charge in June against two people from Collingwood.

The body of 25 year old Sam Bowyer was found at a 10th Street residence in the town back in March.

The investigation revealed Bowyer died from an opioid overdose.

Provincial police say that they, along with other police services Ontario, are sending a very clear and concise message to drug dealers across the province--claiming ignorance is not an acceptable excuse for supplying drugs that are killing people in our communities.
