Blue Mountains Deputy Mayor Resigns

Blue Mountains | by Bayshore News Staff
Odette Bartnicki notified the Clerk and Council of her decision on Monday.

Blue Mountains Deputy Mayor Odette Bartnicki has resigned.

She notified the Clerk and Council of her decision yesterday.

The Deputy Mayor stated, "It has been a great honour to serve the Town of The Blue Mountains as Deputy Mayor" adding, "I am especially thankful to those who have supported me and my family through the past few months.  This unwavering kindness is deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten."

A reason for her resignation was not given, but Deputy Mayor Bartnicki and her family are requesting that members of the public and media respect their personal privacy at this time.

The Town of the Blue Mountains integrity commissioner ruled in November that Bartnicki violated the town’s code of conduct, dealing with bullying and intimidation.

However, Bartnicki denied any wrongdoing and suggested there was a history of animosity between her and the complainant, a former councillor.

Council will be deciding over the next few weeks on how to filll the position.
