No Board Report

Simcoe County | by Ian MacLennan
The union for 22 county housing clerks and superintendants has requested a "no board" report.

The union for 22 County of Simcoe housing clerks and superintendants has requested a "no board" report from the Ministry of Labour.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union says the workers, who have been without a contract since December 2016, have have made compensation their central demand.

OPSEU says weeks of talks have resulted in a stalemate, adding the employer continues to offer wage increases that don't even meet the cost of living.

The union says the manager of Social Housing Development has received 11.73 per cent in wage hikes over the last three years.

If the County doesn't come back to the table by March 9 with a meaningful wage proposal,  OPSEU says there is the risk of a major labour disruption.
