Don’t think even Santa knew this was in the works.
Santa’s Village in Bracebridge has been sold.
The buyers are Brad and Sara Dunkley, who were born and raised in Orillia.
While Toronto is home for their careers, Santa’s Village General Manager Jamie Hopkins says the couple has been visitors to the theme park and had expressed an interest in getting involved in the business should the time come.
Hopkins says the new owners will take a cautious approach and learn the ropes in the first year.
However, he says the Dunkley’s have a goal of expanding Santa’s Village to make it bigger and better.
In 2017, there will be a new roller coaster, renovations to the washrooms, adding animation to the park to give it more colour and life, and some enhanced food offerings.
There is even talk of winterizing the park.
Hopkins says that is long term and would be a new sector of the business that would be a real easy growth opportunity.
