A hostage taking incident in Orangeville has left a man dead and another wounded.
OPP were called just before midnight Friday to a house on Wellington Street near Townline, where they found a male victim with a gunshot wound.
He was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries while the shooter remained barricaded inside a house with two other people.
OPP Constable Terri-Anne Pencarinha said lengthy negotiations ensued and the two were later released from the house without injury.
Police then entered the house where they found the suspect dead of a gunshot wound.
The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate, and confirms that a 54 year-old man was found dead in the basement of the house with a gunshot wound. The SIU says police did not use firearms during the incident.
