It’s forest week in Canada and there’s an event today at the Simcoe County Museum to Celebrate 100 years of Simcoe County Forests.
Residents and visitors are invited to join Warden George Cornell, county councillors, and forestry professionals from 11 a.m to 3 p.m.
and take in free admission to the museum, guided walks through a forest, as well as the official opening of a forestry education area.
There’s also a barbecue with complimentary food.
The County of Simcoe is home to the largest municipally owned forest in the province with 33,000 acres of woodlands spread out over more than 150 properties.
That includes the Museum Tract — right outside the doors of the Museum which is located on Highway 26 at Midhurst.
