Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) have concluded a months-long investigation into a high-level cocaine trafficker in Collingwood and the surrounding communities, resulting in the arrest of two men and the seizure of over a kilogram of cocaine and other drugs.
In early 2023 members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains CSCU began a lengthy investigation into high level cocaine trafficking in Collingwood and the surrounding communities.
After months of investigation, on December 14, 2023 assisted by the Huronia West CSCU, two men were arrested for trafficking cocaine. Assisted by several other Central Region OPP CSCU teams, search warrants were executed at three locations. As a result of the investigation, CSCU located a kilogram brick of cocaine, powder cocaine and methamphetamine as well as other items which provide evidence of drug trafficking, worth an estimated street value of over $100,000.
As a result of the investigation, a 43 yr old from the Blue Mountains, has been charged with:
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
· Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
A 45 year old from Midland has been charged with:
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
· Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on January 16, 2024.
