Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP is asking residents and businesses with surveillance cameras to sign on to the CamSafe program – a voluntary initiative that allows police access to camera footage while investigating criminal activity.
Police say footage shared by the public can be critical in solving investigations.
Recently, doorbell camera footage from residents enabled OPP to identify and charge a suspect in a series of cable-cutting incidents targeting Rogers and Bell infrastructure.
CamSafe is a secure, voluntary registry that respects privacy and puts participants in control. There is no access to live feeds, cloud accounts, or stored footage.
